Jumpstart - Relief Fund Recipient
October 19, 2021

Earlier this year, Canadian Tire Jumpstart announced that they would be providing much-needed financial support to sports organizations looking to help get children back into sport (and play) since the hit of Covid-19.

Last year, we were one of few sports organizations that were determined to run (safely) despite the ever-changing landscape of the early pandemic. As you can imagine, the Dragons faced significant challenges, and many chose to skip the year in favour of playing it safe. Not unlike any other community organizations that ran during this time, the Dragons were very much affected by a loss in revenue, as well as the increased costs of offering our program.

The Dragons are excited to share that we are one of the 668 organizations who have been selected by Canadian Tire Jumpstart to receive a grant from their Sport Relief Fund. The fund helps community sport organizations like ours continue to provide access to sport and play for Canadian kids. This grant will go a long way towards helping us deliver our *new* fall soccer program and looking at further ways to improve our programming in the time ahead!

Land Acknowledgement
The land of which our office and fields are located is the traditional territory of many nations including: Anishinabewaki, Kanien'kehá?ka (Mohawk), and Omàmìwininìwag (Algonquin) peoples.  It is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples. The Gloucester Dragons would like to reflect on the unique connections and relationships Indigenous persons and their ancestors have had with this place for thousands of years.
